The Inland Waterway Management Service (BBA) is a municipal organisation. The BBA operates the bridges, locks and water-retaining structures in Amsterdam. Additionally, it levies and collects port dues on behalf of the pleasure boating and professional shipping sector, and issues permits for houseboats and events on the water.
