At this moment the pilot project 'Electronic Port Clearance' (EPC) is up and running: agents can declare and announce sea vessels electronically. The EPC is a joint initiative of the authorities in the North Sea Canal area (customs, military police and the Port of Amsterdam) and is supported by Portnet, the ICT platform for the Port of Amsterdam in the North sea canal area.
At this moment there are some ten shipping agencies using EPC, in the future this will be more. These officers can enter data through an application and send the authorities an electronic message.
